2005 - JustEdit, S.L. In anticipation of the arrival
of Terrestrial Digital Television, many channels are looking to
complete digitalisation in advance of the analog switch off due
to commence soon in Spain.
Canal 4 Castilla y León
The Group Canal 4 Castilla y León have made a strategic agreement
with JustEdit and Emco in order to install vsn
MXF and XDCAM compatible automation systems, in all the new local
TV stations in the group. The first station in the group to start
installation is in Toledo and will take place during December. Immediately
afterwards, work will start in Guadalajara and Albacete. Canal 4,
will later adapt the existing transmitters the different locations
of Castilla y León.
The system in Toledo is one of the most advanced provided by JustEdit
in Spain. It includes the news system vsnnews
compatible with MXF for 4 journalists, and integrated with advanced
postproduction software Edius Pro3 from Canopus. 3 simultaneous
ingest channels with vsnautorec,
a broadcast server with 2CH vsnairnews
plus a backup server, titler vsncg and vsnprompter.
Thus the Toledo branch of Canal 4 will operate 100% digitally, i.e.
‘tapeless’.
In addition to the automatic ingest of line feeds and content coming
from XDCAM ENG’s, Emco will also install all of the master
control room vsnmatic
plus a legal copy system vsnlegalrec
with the capacity to record 3 months of content, 24x7. Emco already
has experience in vsn installations and was recently
in charge of engineering and starting up a vsnnews
system in the University of Burgos.
Canal 4 is the audiovisual offering in the community of Castilla
y León. Canal 4 counts 12 broadcasters in the independent
community of Castilla y León: Valladolid, Burgos, Salamanca,
Palencia, León, Zamora, Segovia, Ávila, Soria, Bierzo,
Miranda, Ribera and Medina del Campo that make up one of the principal
regional television networks in Spain and a regional television
reference in the region. Canal 4 Castilla y León also broadcasts
its programmes via satellite through Hispasat.
Canal 4 Castilla y León is the oldest factory of content
and the oldest producer of quality broadcasting in Castilla y León.
More than daily news programmes, more than 150 independent community
news programmes and regional productions and around 30 local issues
programmes, magazines and fiction. In total, they will turnover
100 hours a week of their own productions.
Onda Cádiz
Onda Cádiz on the other hand, is installing the first complete
news and master control room with MXF, sold in Spain.
Onda Cádiz will be the first broadcaster in Spain that operates
in an entirely 100% digital i.e. tapeless, environment. This provides
enormous benefits including image quality, speed to on air and optimisation
of human resources and technicians required.
Promovisa was chosen as the partner to get the project up and running.
The solution comprises newsroom and content management based on
XDCAM from Sony and various vsn modules recently
presented at IBC which include MXF compatibility and take advantage
of the qualities of optical disks.
For the first time in Spain, the system also includes the integration
of vsn with Avid. Comprising 5
Avid Xpress Pro HD editing systems and vsnnews
licenses for text editing and playlists, with shared storage from
2,4Tb. One 2CH news video server vsnairnews
with storage for 100 hours of video, titler vsncg
and vsnprompter. Onda
Cádiz has also ordered an archive system vsnarchive
with capacity for more than 10.000 hours in low-resolution.
The tapeless system is completed with a master control room configuration
with vsnautorec for
line ingest, a 24x7 vsnmatic
playout video server with 100 hours capacity and at the end of the
chain, they have installed a broadcast legal copier vsnlegalrec,
with the capacity to record 6 months 24x7 on hard disk in Windows
Media 9 format.
Without a doubt, this novel system is going to become a benchmark
and national reference in broadcast automation. The first broadcasts
by Onda Cádiz are already being tested and the definitive
date for going on air will be December this year.
Onda Cádiz TV is the new local broadcaster of the gaditan
capital, that in terms of development and technical resources, is
one of the most advanced in Spain. Onda Cádiz TV, TV news
and communication Broadcaster for the Cadiz Province, can be tuned
into through Canal 38 (UHF) and opens the way in terms of technology
in the Gaditana Province to new terrestrial digital television.
Onda Cádiz TV forms part of a municipal communications platform
that integrates Radio, Television and Internet.
