New versions of VSN’s traffic, ingest, archive and automation solutions on show in Las Vegas, as well as improved redundancy for the studio and MCR playouts.

VSN strengthens its ‘OneStop’ concept at NAB 09

At NAB Las Vegas, VSN (Video Stream Networks, S.L.) will emphasize the ‘OneStop Tapeless TV’ leit-motif that the company has been promoting for over 3 years now. VSN offers a complete set of open non-proprietary automation solutions for a SD/HD TV channel by one single manufacturer.

The new version of vsncreaTV (scheduling and traffic) is now able to seamlessly integrate with all the classic vsn range (ingest, archive, mam and vsnmatic playout). vsncreaTV allows small & mid-size TV channels to streamline their workflows for a visible benefit. vsnairnews (live studio playout) is now offered in full redundant and synchronized configuration, as requested by the Syrian national broadcaster recently. VSN is also demostrating a MOS-compatible version of its newsroom solution, now interoperable with third parties’ NRCS.

NAB will also see the new vsnmulticom9, likely to be one of the most powerful and complete automation software solutions today. It features new interesting functionalities such as a) ‘Virtual Matrix’ programming function (to manage connection-disconnection processes with one single playlist), b) One DVE channel control (i.e. to launch PiP effects during advertising breaks), c) bidirectional synchronization with vsncreaTV scheduling plus integration with Harris and other 3rd parties traffic, and d) new plug-ins for a seamless integration with MAM and archive solutions by Ardendo, Avid, etc.

vsnautorec will be showcased with 2 new versions that allow either double simultaneous encoding (high res and proxy) or immediate streaming to the daily server after ingest process starts. This new feature enables edit (or browse)-while-ingest processes from NLEs such as Grassvalley Edius5 and Apple’s Final Cut Pro.

VSN is also unveiling the new vsnarchive3 (DAM), a new generation of digital media archive solution, featuring a more efficient use of storage space through a unique H.264 encoding profile. Finally the powerful re-designed vsncg+ (character generator and graphics server) pushes VSN one step beyond in the broadcast graphics servers’ domain. vsncg+ offers an unique combination of high quality graphics, fast and flexible authoring tools and an unrivalled combination of manual and automatic operation when combined with vsn playouts.
