VSN now compatible with Avid editing systems

The new workflow presented at NAB 2011 allows for integration of Media Composer and NewsCutter, in their native formats, with VSN’s standard architecture.

Among the new releases that were presented at the NAB Show in Las Vegas (last April 11th-14th), VSN showcased the new versions of its ingest, MAM, archive and playout solutions, which allow integration with Avid’s most popular editing solutions transparently.

The VSNAUTOREC content ingest systems can now generate, among other formats, OPAtom encapsulated MXF files, in native Avid environments, which allows for renderless use of Media Composer. As for the Media Asset Management (MAM) subsystem, either the on-line (VSNSHARER) or the near and off-line (VSNARCHIVE) versions, they all are already compatible with the most popular formats and encapsulators of said editing systems. This allows Avid users to be able to affordably build scalable network and storage infrastructures for news and content share-editing. Partial or full retrieval of archive materials is now much faster as there is no need for file transcoding. To complete the workflow, all exported projects are compatible with all VSN studio and master control playouts. This VSN feature was already made available for other well-known editing systems like Sony, Grass Valley, Apple, Adobe, etc.

On another hand, VSN also announces the compatibility of its MAM and automation system with Avid’s iNews solution. All TV channels using this popular NRCS tool can now integrate and scale their storage, MAM system and VSN playouts efficiently.

The Spanish company’s R&D department is currently working to shortly gain the complete integration of all Avid’s post-production storage systems (Interplay, etc.) into a chain of creation and playout (ingest-postproduction-playout-archive) in a non-proprietary environment like the one offered by VSN. The forthcoming IBC in September 2011 is the expected launch date. All these new releases fall under VSN‘s Tapeless 2.0 philosophy, which involves the biggest R&D effort made by the company in recent times.
