More than 20,000 ‘green’ hours of video exchanged with VSNIPTRANSFER in 2010

VSN´s broadcast content transfer solution over the Internet broke a record for number of hours of video exchanged in 2010. This revolutionary system eliminates the use of tapes and carriers contributing to reducing CO2 emissions and maintaining environmental sustainability.

VSNIPTRANSFER broke a new record in 2010 with over 23,000 hours of video exchanged in broadcast quality among more than 200 users like TV channels (La Voz de Galicia, TV3, etc.) production houses, news agencies (ACN – Catalan News Agency) and broadcasting consortia (XAL – Local Television Network, TDI – Independent Digital Television Network, Comunicàlia, etc.). All of them totalled 160,000 video transfers during last year. This revolutionary technology is fully ecologic as it avoids all pollution produced by carrier vehicles, it does not require special infrastructure for contribution purposes, and does not produce any waste like videotapes, which are still in use today.

As Jordi Utiel, VSN's CEO, remarks: "this solution has avoided the emission of tons of CO2 to the planet. Estimating 4 media content transfers made with VSNIPTRANSFER are equivalent to a professional video tape, we could say that the 160,000 transfers made in 2010 would have implied around 40,000 video tapes to be distributed by thousands of carrier vehicles. All that involves large ecological savings and that is the reason, together with savings in costs and higher efficiency, why TV channels, production houses and content distributors are witnessing an increasing demand for this technology”

The more than 200 users of this VSNIPTRANSFER saved a substantial amount of money by avoiding alternate ways of delivery like satellite or radio link transmission services, or courier services for videotape delivery. On top of that we add an outstanding file transfer speed -the new UMP transport protocol, fully developed and patented by VSN, allows for increments in transfer speed 10 times faster than any other system. This new multiformat technology, including the latest developments in broadcast content encoding-decoding systems, video compression, signal processing and IP transfer, is dismissing traditional videotapes and turning them into files thus making contents ready for broadcast in a more efficient, economic and ecological fashion. All ingest of materials is performed via a safe Web interface environment.

VSN continues to reinforce its IP Video division by devising a business model based on innovation and technology solutions which are environmentally friendly.
