How To TV Ads and Commercials with VSNCrea

TV ads and commercial insertions are the main way to monetize content in linear and non-linear channels. Advertising is becoming more and more important nowadays due to the investment increase and the turn to AVoD models of some of the biggest streaming platforms. Therefore, it’s more important than ever to trust on reliable advertising scheduling software to manage and control all our TV Ads. In this VSN Shortcuts video, Toni Vilalta shows how to control all our advertising and monetization processes with a single system: VSNCrea.

1. Ad Rates in your advertising scheduling software

We will define the campaign’s Ad Rates in VSNCrea as the first step for our TV Ads. Therefore, our advertising scheduling software counts with a specific where we will define its name, date range and channel. In this screen, we will also set the number of seconds for each TV Ads and the Ad Rate type. VSNCrea allows us to select between fixed rates or cost per rating for the commercials. In addition, we can set a different percentage of the price or jingles or graphic insertions or establish several free commercials as a bonus for our clients.

2. Set the price for your TV Ads

The next step we will take with our advertising scheduling software is setting up the price for each program, time range or block in our channel schedule. Once we’ve defined the price, we will create the commercial contracts and assign them to their Ad Rate.

We will create a new contract or campaign, set the channel, the Ad Rate and the currency for billing. We will set the dates for the campaign and establish the amount of money our client will spend on the campaign. The other parameters will be automatically calculated once we schedule our TV Ads.

3. Create a service order for our TV Ads

Once we’ve set the price, we will schedule our TV Ads, jingles or graphic insertions using the service orders. We will select from the commercial productions inside our catalog for the campaign. If the media is archived in our MAM System, like VSNExplorer, we can preview it. We can define which commercials will be part of the service order and schedule them individually in our content blocks.

To make this scheduling easier, we can create time windows. Therefore, the scheduling menu will only show the time windows we’ve selected when scheduling our TV Ads. For example, if this campaign is focused only on prime time, we can choose that time window and our menu will only show prime time as an option for scheduling.

4. Scheduling the TV Ads

Once these parameters are ready in our advertising scheduling software, the scheduling begins. We can set each commercial showing in our blocks, choose between the TV ads included in the campaign and establish its duration and position inside the advertising break. We can set the price for each TV Ads or let the system calculate it automatically using the formula defined previously in the Ad Rate. We can also schedule it in a specific commercial break, and we can see the duration and time availability within that break for advertising. We can enter multiple productions and they will appear in the list.

5. Fast scheduling option in VSNCrea

6. Advanced reports for our advertising

VSNCrea not only allows the advanced scheduling of our TV Ads, but also enables the creation of reports to know the performance of our channel’s advertising. In the video example, we show you the graphical view of the report, in which we can see the spot’s ROI according to the client, or we can see it by contracts or campaigns.

You can create your custom reports by specifying the type. For example, you can add columns such as name, price, days or any of the metadata fields available in VSNCrea.  In less than thirty seconds we can create an exportable report of results in .pdf, .csv or any other format and we can send all this information to billing systems.
